SIMON’S STALL IS A HIGHLIGHT OF THE SUNDAY FARMERS’ MARKET IN CAMBRIDGE

‘Since being introduced to Simon’s stall by word of mouth a few years ago, it has been a highlight of life in Cambridge. Frankly, I cannot understand why anyone would want to buy their locally produced veg anywhere else if they have the opportunity to get to Cambridge market on a Sunday morning and visit Simon’s stall. Contrary to the general grumble one hears that organic veg is over-priced (in supermarkets) or is full of bugs (from small producers), the price and quality of Simon’s produce are fantastic. Everything is fresh as a daisy, the range is amazing (how many varieties of lettuce and other salad in summer…?) and the process of selecting and buying food is a great pleasure, not a chore. For long-term customers, it is a pleasure to meet Simon and his team of helpers, as well as regular customers, exchange a few words and hear snippets of how our lives progress, week on week, year on year. Long may the stall prosper – Cambridge would be much less attractive without it!’
